The Brewery resides on Great Hales Street, with The Brewery Tap “The Red Lion Inn” resting adjacent to the Brewery. Joule’s run public Brewery tours on the first Wednesday of every month, with tickets available from The Red Lion bar. Evenings start at 7pm, and include Welcome speech, guided tour of the Brewery, Fordhall Farm pork baps and of course lots of beer sampling! Private tours available.

The Red Lion is of course our flagship pub and home to the brewery.   It is a true reflection of the Joule’s brand and we have designed the brewery around it. The brewers hall or ‘mouse room’ as it is known, was opened late in 2010, a lovely oak panelled room with exquisite carvings, a cosy log burner, and full length windows giving a live view of our brewery, so you can sit enjoying one of our ales whilst watching the next one being produced.  This is also our hospitality room where we host groups from pubs offering Joule’s ales, this gives us an opportunity to show customers how we brew our ales and of course to sample our full range.  Since the brewery opened the tap has sold more pints of Joules than any other pub – as you would expect, if you are lucky and see a squirrel or a stoat on the back bar ask for a pint of Secret Squirrel or Sturdy Stoat you will be offered a sample of one of our trial brews -our head brewer likes to test his beer in full pub conditions rather than just the sample room.

The Tap is well worth a visit, stories of the brewery and the brand are woven throughout the pub and the brewers are often found testing the brew after work (thats what we call it anyway!) and always happy to chat.  On Friday’s at 5.00pm we celebrate the week – home made sausage rolls and a great pint of Joule’s Ale…is there any better way to start the weekend?
