Moorings at Talbot Wharf (Holidays Afloat Ltd)

Talbot Wharf is on the northern edge of Market Drayton, where the canal skirts the town. Easily reached by car from the M6,  or an hourly bus outside the gate connects to the railway stations at Shrewsbury and Stoke on Trent. We’re a 5 minute walk from the centre of Market Drayton with its busy Wednesday Street market which dates from 1245.

Holidays Afloat was established here in 1949, and its been our family business since 1962. As the IWA said back in 1949, “…Market Drayton is an excellent starting point for a canal holiday, many attractive alternative routes being available for holidays of varying duration.” (Extract from IWA Bulletin 18, February 1949).

A traditional wharf boatyard, we have main line and basin moorings to the north and south of bridge 62 on the Shropshire Union canal. We welcome narrow beam boats of any size, and especially cruisers and smaller boats whose owners wish to keep and enjoy their boat within an environment that operates within a philosophy of courtesy and common sense.
