Community owned since 1984, the Centre underwent a major refurbishment in 2004, resulting in it becoming the Best Regional Winner of the West Midlands Market Towns Award in 2006. On the 2nd June 2014 an announcement from Buckingham Palace confirmed the Festival Drayton Centre as a recipient of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

The citation for this award reads – “creating quality of life enhancing opportunities for the whole community and beyond by providing multi-purpose facilities including Cinema, Theatre, spaces for Meetings, Leisure and Learning, Exhibition Gallery and Coffee Shop”.
